Overview

HEXPOL is hiring for a Corporate Controls Engineer to join our technical team and provide hands-on automation and controls support across our manufacturing facilities. This role will play a critical part in keeping operations running efficiently through proactive troubleshooting, equipment integration, and continuous improvement initiatives. You’ll collaborate with plant teams, project engineers, and technical staff to support production systems, drive process reliability, and lead automation projects.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshooting, developing, and maintaining PLC programs across various platforms (e.g., Allen Bradley)
  • Integrating production equipment into existing operational systems to enhance functionality and uptime
  • Configure and control of variable frequency drives (VFDs) through PLCs and local interfaces
  • Interpreting and working from detailed electrical and mechanical schematics
  • Providing remote technical support for plant locations and traveling to other locations to support onsite projects as needed (up to 30%)
  • Supporting engineering projects by assisting Project Engineers with implementation and controls integration
  • Contributing to process improvement initiatives using lean manufacturing principles

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Controls Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience)
  • 3–5 years of experience in controls or automation engineering, ideally in rubber, plastics, or chemical manufacturing environments
  • Hands-on experience with:
    • PLC programming (Allen Bradley, Structured Text, Ethernet/IP)
    • Ignition platforms for data visualization, reporting, and alarms
    • Electrical troubleshooting (480V and below)
    • Basic IT networking and Remote I/O configurations
  • Familiarity with CMMS systems and digital maintenance platforms (e.g., e-Maintenance) a plus
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work independently or within cross-functional teams
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and self-motivated with excellent time management skills
  • Ability to lead through influence and build strong relationships across diverse teams
